Flora

Design Ilenia Viscardi, 2021

A young and dynamic seating unit that offers a number of solutions that can be arranged and rearranged to suit changing requirements.

Flora is a system of single or double seating units that can be combined to produce free, unconventional and endless arrangements that can be used indoors and in sheltered outdoor spaces. The structure is padded and the fabric or leather cover can be easily removed thanks to black zips that run along the edges of the seat and the backrest; a deliberately strong graphic sign that highlights the curvature. Optional removable ‘cloak’, in the same fabric or leather cover or in a contrasting colour. It is fixed with Velcro in the central and lower parts of the seat and with a counterweight in the rear of the backrest.
Two Flora sofas in Vermont 0832 blue with velvet cloaks 0646 blue overlook each other, creating a convivial space. Completing the scene are two Flora armchairs in Nabuk N82 with Rudolf cloaks 0795, also in shades of blue. The Pierre side tables in the center and the Pierre ottoman in Pacific 0792 blue add compositional rhythm. In the background, the Foglio sideboard in Oxide finish.
In the foreground, a Flora armchair in blue N82 Nubuck N82 with blue Rudolf 0795 cloak exhibits generous volumes and textural texture. In the background, the Foglio sideboard in Oxide finish accommodates decorative glass objects. The floor lamp emphasizes the verticality of the room, while the neutral wall enhances the dialogue between the sculptural furnishings and the rest of the room.
The seating units Flora furnish unconventional and dynamic spaces, simply positioned side by side or combined with the two-seater sofas of the same series.
Two Flora armchairs in blue N82 Nubuck with blue Rudolf 0795 cloak occupy the stage, arranged on a gray carpet that enhances their curves. The contrast between the smooth velvet of the frame and the materiality of the upholstery accentuates the cozy feeling. Natural light filters through the curtains, completing a reading corner with a bold and relaxed character.
The detail of the Flora sofa reveals the meeting of Vermont 0832 and velvet 0646, with exposed stitching and metal zipper tracing the soft blue lines. The graphic pattern of the fabric follows the sinuous profile of the structure, while the mantle wraps the back naturally. Each material is selected to emphasize visual comfort and stylistic consistency.
